Let me start by stating, Switzerland in
Autumn/Fall is a Paradise, perfect weather, colorful leaves/forest, a touch of
snow on the mountains, autumn flowers (especially the wild ones), blue sky
turning into pink after sun set – truly truly a Nature Heaven. Fall, especially
the second half of September till the first half of November is the best time
to visit Switzerland, I strongly recommend.
We started our journey early in the
morning from Geneva in a car, so that we have enough time for sightseeing, we
planned to visit many places. Our host was a lovely Bhutanese family in Bern,
where we stopped for a cup of tea on the way and unloaded our stuffs.
From Bern, we were joined by the host
family. We drove to Iseltwald first, a beautiful, serene and a colorful
village on the south shore of Lake
Brienz, well known for the filming of popular K-drama, Crash
landing on you. It looked more beautiful in real, deep blue lake, snow capped
mountains, stunning landscape and colorful forest that surrounded the beautiful
chalets; I thought I could live there forever.

We spent some peaceful pleasant time in Iseltwald, taking a walk, taking pictures, enjoying the scenic view; and the steaming hot chocolate to end the Iseltwald trip was an added bonus.
Thereafter, we went for a lovely joy ride along Lake Brienz and Lake Thun, stopping where ever we wanted to enjoy spectacular views and take pictures. We had our packed lunch at the shore of Lake Thun. The trip was beyond doubt a magical experience; it was like travelling from one fairytale town to another. I would do literally do anything to go back to this place again.

We
then visited the Interlaken city; there we spend some time window shopping, walking
down some old streets and sitting in a beautiful park, which had the best view
of the stunning Mount Jungfrau, also known as the top of Europe. The paragliders were all over the place

Towards
evening, we went to Sigriswil, visited the beautiful panoramic bridge. This
was another filming location for the aforementioned drama. The view from the
bridge was stunning as expected; the snow capped mountains, the deep blue Lake
Thun flowing underneath and the gorgeous mountain villages; the fall colors
added to its beauty. We crossed the 340m suspension bridge enjoying
the breath taking views around.

Back at our generous host’s place, we had a
nice Bhutanese dinner (I can’t exactly remember, what was for dinner :P, forgot to note down in
my diary as well), but I do recall it was yummy & spicy, the host
was kind and I had felt very grateful. It is true; people will never forget how
you made them feel :) Note – I have decided to split the trip into two parts. The day two of
the trip to Mount Niesen, Spiez and Gstaad will be on my next article. I learnt from my previous post Trip to Zurich, Lucerne and Bern , putting them
all together makes the post very crowded and messy.
